The Monday Question

“What am I going to do to move my business forward this week?”

July 13, 2026

The line between busy and buried

There is the kind of busy that grows the business and the kind that just buries you. From the inside they feel the same. The difference shows up in a number.

Every business has a ceiling. It is the most work you can take on in a week and still do that work well. It is set by your people and by what they have to work with, the space, the equipment, the hours in the day. Whatever you sell, there is a count of it your business can carry and still be proud of the result.

Most goals get set the other way around. A number gets picked because it sounds like growth, and the team is left to find a way. When the goal sits above the ceiling, there are two honest moves. Bring the goal down to what the business can deliver, or raise the ceiling on purpose with a hire, a rate change or better equipment.

This week, evaluate your team and your facilities. Identify the maximum your business can deliver in a week, then set your next goal against that number.
